Red lipstick is one of those things I used to avoid. It felt too bold, too noticeable, like it would say more than I intended. But after trying a few that actually suited me, I started to see it differently.
It’s not always about standing out—it can also be about how it changes the way you carry yourself. These two reds, in particular, have very different personalities, and I find myself choosing between them depending on what kind of mood I’m in.
1. Huda Beauty Power Matte Lipstick
This one feels unapologetically bold. From the first swipe, the color shows up strong and clear, no hesitation. The matte finish gives it that classic red lipstick look—clean, defined, and a bit dramatic in a good way. I usually wear this when I want my makeup to feel more intentional, like everything is pulled together on purpose. It’s not the kind of lipstick I forget I’m wearing, but that’s part of its charm. It makes me more aware of my expressions, the way I talk, even how I hold myself.
2. Prada Soft Matte Monochrome Refillable Lipstick – Carminio
This one feels more subtle, even though it’s still red. The texture is softer, almost blurred compared to a traditional matte. It doesn’t hit all at once—instead, it builds in a way that feels more relaxed. I tend to reach for this when I want a red that doesn’t feel too “perfect.” It’s easier to wear casually, even with minimal makeup.
I don’t think of them as interchangeable. The Huda Beauty one feels like a statement, while the Prada one feels more like an extension of whatever mood I’m already in. Some days I want that sharp, defined red that stands out across the room. Other days, I just want a softer touch of color that still feels like me, just slightly more put together.
