Strange peaks and rocks, colorful as red roses and brilliant as bright clouds, reflected in the clear water, are as beautiful as if crafted by immortals.
The magical power of nature has endowed the majestic, strange, beautiful, dangerous, and vast Danxia landforms with majestic landscapes. People linger and forget to leave.

So, what exactly does the Danxia landform we usually refer to?

Danxia landforms are distributed in tropical and subtropical humid areas, temperate humid-semi-humid areas, semi-arid-arid areas, and alpine areas of the Tibetan Plateau. The "Geological Dictionary" defines it as a red sandy conglomerate with thick layers, gentle occurrence, well-developed joints, and uneven iron-calcium mixed cement.
These are castle-shaped and pagoda-shaped stones formed through differential weathering, gravity collapse, erosion, and dissolution. Shaped, needle-shaped, columnar, rod-shaped, mountain-shaped, or peak-like terrain. In simple terms, Danxia landform refers to landforms developed from red continental clastic rocks, characterized by red cliffs.

Typical features of Danxia landform

Red cliffs are the most basic landscape feature of the Danxia landform. The cliffs are as high as 100 meters. Under various external influences, the mountains are scattered, with rich shapes and ever-changing shapes.
They are represented by Danxia stone forests, peak forests, peak clusters, cliffs and It is characterized by various types of modeling stones, and many rivers are flowing through the red layer basin, which is reflected by the clear water of Danshan Mountain. The Danxia Mountains are primarily red due to the high iron content in the red layer rocks.
Iron-cemented red layers are brighter in color, while those cemented with calcium or silica are relatively paler. However, differences in the climate, organisms, and sedimentary materials deposited in a certain period in a local area may cause changes in the color of the sediments.
The color of the red layer is not necessarily red. In addition, you can see alternating thick and fine sedimentary layers on the cliff. The coarse-grained rock layers are called "conglomerate" and the fine and uniform rock layers are called "sandstone".
The Danxia landform has become a popular tourist destination due to its unique red cliffs and the blend of natural wonders with cultural landscapes. Its tourism resources have high scientific and aesthetic value. Different regions, influenced by climatic conditions, stratigraphic lithology, tectonic processes, and external dynamics, form diverse Danxia landforms, creating abundant tourism resources.
However, the increasing number of tourists and the rising construction of tourism infrastructure have increased the pressure on local environmental protection. Developing eco-tourism models has become essential for sustainable tourism development.
