Liquid highlighter isn’t something I used to think about much, but once it becomes part of a routine, it’s hard to ignore how it changes the whole finish of makeup. It doesn’t really add “more makeup” in an obvious way, it just shifts how light moves across the skin.
Some days it looks barely there, other times it catches attention in the softest way.
1. Raine Beauty – I’m Brilliant
This one feels understated from the start. The texture spreads without effort, and it doesn’t take much blending before it starts to look like it belongs there. I usually tap it in with my fingers because it seems to melt better that way. The glow is quiet, almost like a hint rather than a statement, and it shows up most when I turn my face or step under natural light. It’s the kind of product I’d pick when I don’t want anything too obvious but still want a bit of life in the skin.
2. Rare Beauty – Mesmerize
This one has a slightly stronger presence. It still blends smoothly, but the payoff comes quicker, so even a small amount already makes a difference. The finish sits somewhere between soft shine and visible glow, depending on how much is applied. I noticed it holds its look well through the day without turning patchy or disappearing too fast. There’s a bit more character in it, like it’s meant to be seen a little more clearly than a subtle tint.
After switching between the two, it feels less like choosing a “better” highlighter and more like picking a level of brightness. One stays close to the skin, almost whispering light, while the other steps forward a bit more. I end up reaching for them based on how I want my makeup to speak that day—quiet or slightly louder, but never overwhelming.
