Red lipstick has always had a strange kind of presence in my makeup routine. It doesn’t behave like an everyday neutral shade—it changes the whole mood the moment it goes on.
Some days I want that bold shift, other days I just want a soft stain of confidence.
Two lipsticks I find myself going back to are from SADA and the Creamy Mattes line from Maybelline. They both sit in the same color family, but the feeling they give is completely different.
1. SADA Red Lipstick
The SADA red lipstick feels like it belongs to moments when I want to look a bit more “put together” without overthinking the process. It’s the kind of red that doesn’t ask for attention loudly, but still naturally draws the eye. When I apply it, I notice it leans toward a straightforward, classic finish.
Not too complicated, not too dramatic—just clean color on the lips. I usually don’t need many layers for it to show up properly, which makes it easy when I’m in a rush.
2. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipstick
The Creamy Mattes from Maybelline feel like a different personality entirely. This one is softer in texture and more intentional in finish. It doesn’t sit on the lips harshly—it has that smoother, almost velvety appearance that makes everything look a bit more refined. What I like is how wearable it feels even though it’s still a red. It can be built up for a stronger look, or tapped lightly for something more relaxed.
Red lipstick isn’t just one kind of statement. Sometimes it’s loud, sometimes it’s quiet, and sometimes it just sits in between. Having both of these in my routine makes it easier to match that feeling without forcing one version of myself every day.
